Gouripur S A High School has been established in 1942. This school has been named Subal-Aftab after Subal Saha of Gopchar and Aftab Ahmed of Sarkapur for donating land and money. Late Dr. Shamsul Huda, the renowned physician of the Gouripur Govt. Charitable Hospital had a pioneer role in establishing this school. He was the founder-secretary of the school and had much contribution towards the enhancement of standard of education of this school. As he was a veteran educationist, he always tried to remove the illiteracy of this area. He always thought of improving the lot of the common people. Seeing the pitiable condition of education among the people of this area, he made up his mind to en-candle the light of education by founding a school here and was succeeded in his attempt. The people of this area worked as disciples of Dr. Huda. During his life time he used to appoint such competent teachers as they were expert in extra-curricular activities in addition to teaching. Headmasters of this school earned much reputation for this school. The members of the managing committee were conscious of their duties towards the school. This school produced such students as they could win the love of the teachers as well as their guardians. Thus they could shine in life by discharging their duties in their respective fields. After independence this school is being run by the regular committee members who are always alert to uplift the condition of the school.
